LESSON 6 GIFT BAG
NOTE: THERE ARE TWO PARTS TO THIS 1. THE OUTLINE NET and 2. THE FINAL COLOURED DESIGN.
Before you ask your teacher for feedback make sure that you have acted upon everything in the following checklist.
When you have completed this element move on and complete other jobs that you haven't done.
INTRODUCTION
The assembled gift bag must be 3D – having sides and a base. The design must use
a single net which folds to make the bag.
2D net
Students may find it helpful to collect and ‘unpick’ different types of gift bag to
enable them to choose a suitable design.
The net must be produced using only VECTOR tools and show dimensions and scale.
The drawing should clearly indicate folds, cut lines and areas to be glued. A key to
line types could be used.
The surface design must be created using BITMAP tools and include a visual link to
the clothing item (in addition to the logo).
Finished bag
Students must produce photographs to show what the bag will look like when it is
assembled. One of these will be used in the digital advert.
They should print and assemble their finished 2D design and then photograph
the 3D bag from different angles.
It is not essential to print the bag on card - ordinary printer paper should allow
students to make up bags which will withstand minimal use. The priority is to ensure
that the bag actually works.
GIFT BAG CHECKLIST
You need to create a gift bag which represents your competition:
